My Blog Posts

About myself and my work...

After having been in practice as a psychotherapist & hypnotherapist since 1976 and having helped many people, realize their goals and improve the quality of their life, in face to face hypnotherapy sessions and in self-development groups, I have decided to go into semi-retirement but I am keeping this website to give others the benefit of my 30+ years in the profession by giving free advice and recommendation. If you have any specific questions regarding hypnotherapy or personal development that you cannot find from the pages on this website, please feel free to

Around 1979, I  became interested in Zen and started practicing zazen (a form of Zen meditation) on a daily basis. I combined my experience of the power of Zen with psychotherapy, hypnosis, self-hypnosis and meditation in groups and on a one-to-one basis. It is through this Zen-like influence that my clients began to experience some powerful results and began to recognize and become more sensitive to the knowledge when they entered a state of hypnosis. (see what is hypnosis? below)

Although I have gone into semi-retirement, I continue to practice self-hypnosis and all the Zen disciplines outlined on this website myself and I am constantly realizing more and of the inner potential of the subconscious mind. Spiritual growth doesn't ever stop regardless of age or current knowledge about the workings of the mind and hypnosis, it is more about a journey, than a destination.

Anybody can master the techniques of Zen and meditation and achieve a higher level of mastery in life. And this is what this site is all about and why I am keeping it live.

The potential of the human mind is truly incredible of which it is said, that a genius uses only 12%. My intention continues to assist as many individuals as possible, to achieve a greater level of 'reality' in life. Please feel free to read all that is on this website, and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via the e-mail links that you see throughout these pages.

I do not make a charge for helping others and will endeavour to do all I can to point my visitors in the right direction best suited to their needs.  This could mean contacting a therapist in their area, suggesting a meditation process, or what books to read (it is amazing what power the written word can have).

Please understand that apart from the books and hypnosis CDs, books and MP3 soundtracks, the information on this site is free and are for those who are interested in discovering more about their personal potential and spiritual nature. With regards to therapy, it is for information purposes only and not meant to be a substitute for any form therapy, medical or otherwise. If you feel your problem is of a medical or psychological nature, please visit your doctor or therapist. Or click on the links to that National Council of Hypnotherapy or National Council of Psychotherapy at the top of this home page.

If you find value from visiting this site, and wish to purchase further reading or any other products, I would ask that you use the links that appear as the small commission I earn helps with the expense of keeping my site on the web.  (See also The Value of Books below) - Thank you.

What is Hypnosis?

For those people who are seeking hypnosis and are a little apprehensive, below I have outlined exactly what hypnosis is, and hopefully can dispel a lot of myths.. There are many misconceptions about hypnosis and the way a hypnotist works, so the best way to begin is to tell you what hypnosis is not...

Hypnosis is not... being rendered unconscious   (A hypnotist does not send his subject to "sleep" so that they lose consciousness)

Hypnosis is not... being subjected to another's will   (A clinical hypnotist does not force his will on his clients)

Hypnosis is not... Sleep

Hypnosis is not... Dangerous

Hypnosis is not... Occult, paranormal, black magic, spiritism, etc. etc. (A hypnotist is just like any other regular person and does not use the paranormal)

Hypnosis is...

An altered state of consciousness that enables the subject to replace negative thoughts and behaviour patterns with positive ones. It is also a 'tool' to enable a subject to recover lost (repressed) memories that are causing unwanted conditions in life.

What can hypnosis be used for?

Hypnosis can be used for habit control:  To help stop smoking (more); stop overeating (more);  nail-biting and many other unwanted habits. Also...

  • Hypnosis is an effective tool for stress management.
  • Hypnosis helps with phobias, fears, nervous asthma, sexual problems, relationship problems, blushing, examination nerves, learning difficulties, business stress, grief, fear of flying, spiders, snakes, sports performance.
  • Hypnosis helps improve salesmanship, and so on, and so on...

Hypnosis is a powerful process to help increase motivation and really powerful way to help develop many skills, and increase general confidence. Also techniques of hypnosis are taught to those who wish to enhance self-awareness and inner development.

Stress

Many people these days suffer from stress-related problems, so many people can benefit from hypnosis and or meditation. There is very little difference between hypnosis, self-hypnosis or meditation. You cam learn these skills by the use of my cassette tape/CD recordings or by reading my article, Why Meditate? If you have further questions please

Hypnosis CD Service

For those who are interested in practising self hypnosis, an excellent guidance system is by the cassette tape/CD service. I have developed a large range of cassette tapes/CD or will make a hypnosis cassette/CD especially to cater to individual needs. Also a client can receive back-up interaction and advice with me by e mail. Cassette tapes/CDs are useful for people who are unable to see a hypnotherapist for any reason and can be used for help to quit smoking, lose weight, reduce worry and stress, gain confidence, gain motivation/enthusiasm, improve concentration and more. Click here for more information

The Value of Books

It is through books that many people start to make a difference in their lives and I fully believe in the power of the written word to help focus the mind and transcend negativity.

However, in pursuing self-development and self-esteem, the types of books that are needed to be read are those that will give you much more than just intellectual information and knowledge. They are...

  • The type of books that will inspire you to take action
  • The type of books to inspire you to DO WHATEVER IT TAKES in your day-to-day life
  • The type of books to improve the quality of your life,
  • The type of books to inspire you to MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

Because that is what we as human beings aspire to. We really want to make a difference in some aspect or another. Ask yourself, "where do I want to make a difference?" or "where do I need to make a difference?"

It is no good reading a book and merely saying to yourself, "that sounds like a good idea" and then doing nothing. You will need to commit to act on the principles and instructions/advice for a long enough period of time to see whether or not that particular book works for you. Then, if it doesn't, move on,  book an appointment with or talk to or e-mail a hypnotherapist to discover if hypnotherapy is something that's going to work for you.

On Line Help

I have discovered in my experience with my Internet clients on line, (which has been for approximately 10-12 years), that it is indeed very possible to help people using a combination of guided meditation CDs,or MP3s and e-mail consultations, and make a big difference in their lives. As you may already realise, I am a Zen practitioner and this strongly influences my approach to clients.

In Zen, it is said, when the student is ready, the master will appear. The "master" comes to give vital information at the right time. The master can come not only in the form of a person, but a book, life situation, internet page or article or something else. Then, once the "lesson" is learned, the student can discard that particular master, and choose to move on to the next. I say "choose" because as human beings we always have a choice, a free will about whether we continue to grow or stand still. And sometimes we may need to stand still and take stock of where we have come from and where we are going. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to use the e-mail link below to contact me. Please be assured that your e-mail address will remain confidential on not be passed on to a third person.

Below are some books, availabe in both U.K and U.S.A. that I have found invaluable in my own growth and development, as a hypnotherapist and as a Zen practitioner.
